At Bolingbrook Pride, we want to be crystal clear: We see you. We love you. We stand with you. Trans people have existed as long as there have been people, and no amount of legislation, rhetoric, or violence will erase that fact. The trans community is an integral part of the LGBTQ+ family, and we refuse to let hate and fear dictate our future.
A Legacy of Strength, Resistance, and Leadership
Trans people have always been here, not only surviving but leading. From Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, who were on the front lines of the Stonewall Uprising, to the countless trans activists, artists, and organizers shaping culture and policy today, trans folks have played a pivotal role in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights and justice.
Beyond our own community, trans people have stood up to protect and advocate for others, often without recognition or thanks. Whether fighting for racial justice, disability rights, reproductive rights, or workers' rights, trans individuals have continuously been at the forefront of progress. Their contributions to art, music, literature, science, and every aspect of human life are undeniable, even when history tries to erase them.
The Current Climate and the Fight Ahead
Right now, we are witnessing an unprecedented wave of attacks on trans rights across the country. From healthcare bans to restrictions on name changes, bathroom access, and identification documents, legislators are targeting the most vulnerable among us in a cruel attempt to erase trans existence. But we know the truth: Trans people are here to stay, and we will fight alongside you to ensure that your rights, dignity, and humanity are upheld.
Illinois remains a safer state than many, but even here, vigilance and advocacy are essential. The ACLU continues to challenge discriminatory laws nationwide, and we encourage everyone to stay informed and engaged in these legal battles. We Will Not Be Silent
Bolingbrook Pride was founded on the belief that everyone deserves to live with dignity, respect, and safety. We will never turn our backs on the trans community, nor will we allow anyone to push you into the shadows. Our commitment to inclusion, advocacy, and celebration of every identity remains stronger than ever.
We invite our entire community to stand with us—speak out against injustice, amplify trans voices, and support trans-led organizations. This is not just a moment; this is a movement.
To our trans siblings: You are loved. You are valued. You are seen. And no matter how dark things may feel, you are not alone.
With Pride and Solidarity,
