Paint With Pride: A Mural of Connection and Celebration
June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month: a time to celebrate identity, build community, and stand in solidarity.
In 2021, when many were still reeling from the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bolingbrook Pride hosted Paint With Pride, a community art event that brought people together safely when connection was needed most.
On June 5th, LGBTQ+ individuals and allies gathered behind Bolingbrook Village Hall to fill the sidewalks with messages of love, inclusion, and joy. Throughout the morning, participants painted vibrant rainbows, butterflies, and flags that represented the beautiful and diverse spectrum of the LGBTQ+ community.
More than just art, this event offered a powerful reminder that even in uncertain times, we can still show up for one another. Paint With Pride became a space for self-expression, visibility, and healing.
