About Us
Bolingbrook Pride is a grassroots, community-led organization that is committed to promoting inclusion, unity, acceptance, open dialogue, and unconditional love in a time where these values are sometimes difficult to come by. We are committed to reaching out to and supporting LGBTQ+ people and allies throughout the lifespan, including youth and families.
We serve a beautifully diverse community. Bolingbrook is a wealth of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, gender, and sexual diversity.
We connect with other organizations serving the LGBTQ+ community in our town and its surrounding area to raise awareness and increase access to support, so supporting Bolingbrook Pride means supporting many local LGBTQ+ organizations.
“LGB youth who come from highly rejecting families are 8.4 times as likely to have attempted suicide as LGB peers who reported no or low levels of family rejection” (Family Acceptance Project, 2009).
Bolingbrook Pride is leading the charge to increase understanding and acceptance of families in our communities by partnering with youth, school, and family organizations supporting LGBTQ+ children and teens, with the goal of decreasing suicide.
Ultimately, Bolingbrook Pride seeks to build strong community, so that no person in our area has to experience the isolation and fear that many in the LGBTQ+ community experience.
We believe all people are equal, everyone can embrace who they are, can love who they choose, can define their own future, and working together, can change the world.
Our Mission
Our priority is to bridge the gap between LGBTQ+ families and the greater Chicagoland suburban community in order to build better understanding and support, ultimately cultivating a stronger community for all.
Our Vision
Bolingbrook Pride envisions a community and a society free of prejudice, bigotry, and hatred. We will move our community toward this vision by celebrating our similarities, educating about our differences, and collaborating for a diverse and united future.
