All People Deserve Bodily Autonomy

Updated: May 4, 2022

Conversations around reproductive health and justice have historically left out people who identify as LGBTQ+

This week’s news about the potential of Roe vs. Wade being overturned is a devastating reminder of this reality; but abortion access, reproductive health, and body autonomy are queer issues too!

As queer people, it can feel like our bodies are under constant scrutiny and, especially this year, our decisions about what we do with our own bodies, as well as choices we make for our own health, are in jeopardy of being taken away from us.

The revocation of Roe v Wade would have overwhelmingly devastating effects on not only our community, but other marginalized communities that intersect (the largest and most obvious being women), people of color, people with disabilities, and anyone without access to the best in healthcare.

Our entire community must stand together during this time and support each other while we fight against this inhumane legislation.

Every human deserves respect, body autonomy, and human rights!

With all of the information surrounding this week’s SCOTUS leak, It’s okay to feel angry, frustrated, and overwhelmed. Please practice self care, whatever that looks like for you.
